The Media Need to Stop Covering Other Media Coverage

I found it ridiculous that a local media outlet wrote a story about a local restaurant’s coverage in The New York Times. Yes, there’s a prestige and distribution difference between the two outlets. However, doesn’t writing that story make the local outlet’s own coverage of the restaurant seem unimportant? This is just one of many examples of the media covering media.

What’s worse is that this local media outlet then ran ads to promote that it had written about The New York Times writing about this restaurant. What a complete waste of money. If anything, it should be promoting its own article on the topic.
