MobCraft to Create Beer for Wizard World Comic Con

(MADISON, Wis.)—Wizard World, Inc. (OTCBB: WIZD) and MobCraft Beer today announced they will work together to develop a beer exclusive to Wizard World Madison Comic Con, held Feb. 6-8 at the Alliant Energy Center.

“This is a natural partnership, given the enthusiasm of both fan bases is so strong,” MobCraft CEO Henry Schwartz said. “We look forward to helping to enhance the fan experience of Wizard World Comic Con.”

The pale ale beer will be called Con Elixir. Madison residents will be able to sample it at the Comic Con weekend events.

Madison-based MobCraft, founded in 2012, creates custom craft beer based on crowdsourced (user-submitted) recipes. Customers cast their vote by placing a pre-order of beer they want brewed, and MobCraft produces the beer with the most votes.

Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, cosplay, comics, television, sci-fi, toys, video gaming, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more.

William Shatner (“Star Trek”), Brett Dalton (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Emily Kinney (“The Walking Dead”), “WWE® Divas The Bella Twins™, Josh McDermitt (“The Walking Dead”) and Kristin Bauer (“True Blood”) headline the roster of celebrity guests scheduled to attend the pop culture extravaganza. Plan ample time for marketing and PR

We’ve been hired last-minute to generate publicity for numerous projects and events–for example, we were brought in to do PR only a few days before a restaurant’s grand opening–so we know it is challenging, but not impossible, to work under such a short timeline. However, individuals and businesses should do themselves a favor and plan well ahead to lay the groundwork for marketing and PR.

For earned media relations, especially TV or radio, don’t expect to contact a producer two days before your event and then get scheduled. We typically try to schedule live interviews at least a month out. Meanwhile, daily newspapers are at least one week out, and magazines are at least three months out. Don’t forget the time required for developing a messaging strategy and performing media training.

For marketing, remember that it takes time to build awareness and repetition with your target audience. It also takes time to develop (and place) ads, promotions, newsletters, collateral, etc.

Instagram Trumps Twitter’s Numbers

This week, it was reported Instagram now has 300 million monthly active users, bypassing Twitter’s 284 million. Some might find those numbers odd, considering how often the media urges users to tweet instead of sending in a picture. However, personally I find Instagram visually easier to look at and understand. When I log into the app, I feel less pressure, I feel immediacy and I feel more connected to my followers.
