INTRODUCTION
Reddit still remains “the front page of the Internet.” The site boasted more than 430 million monthly active users in 2019 (the last year that stats are provided) and has more than 130,000 active communities.
Here’s a look at what’s new in Reddit in 2022.
A NEW WAY TO FIND COMMUNITIES
The new Discover tab helps you find content and communities. In the Reddit app, click on the compass icon next to the home button. You will be shown content that is tailored to your interests. You can choose to show more of, show less of or hide the content that is presented to you. You also can filter the content for a specific topic.
LIVE AUDIO THROUGH REDDIT TALK
Last year, Reddit piloted Reddit Talk as a way to host live audio conversations in communities. Participants are comprised of listeners, speakers, hosts and community moderators.
This year, Reddit added a recording feature so that users can listen to saved Talks at any time. In addition, listeners can now access Talks through reddit.com instead of only through the app. Reddit also is adding a live bar at the top of home feeds so you can see what Reddit Talks are currently taking place.
SEARCH COMMENTS
Instead of having to dig through comment threads in every post, you can now search for comments. Type what you’re searching for in the main search bar. On the subsequent page, click on the “Comments” button.
This feature is useful for quickly finding people’s thoughts about certain topics. Currently, Reddit does not provide the option to sort or filter the search results for comments.
