INTRODUCTION
Medium, the open writing platform where bloggers can write, publish and promote their stories to an audience, launched in 2012 and has achieved more than 133.4 million total visits, according to SimilarWeb.com.
Following are some new features and updates for Medium in 2022.
REFERRAL PROGRAM
Whenever a writer/member converts a non-member to a paying member, the original member gets a cut of the $5 fee. With the processing fees, the amount is $2.27 per member per month.
There are two ways to earn a profit from the referral program. The first is through a writer’s personal referral page, which each writer has. You can find your referral landing page under Settings/Audience dev/Promote membership. This landing page should be shared on social media, linked on Medium post pages and in your profile.
The second way to earn money is to have non-paying readers subscribe to your email. When they do, they’ll be given an option to convert to a Medium member. Once they do, it counts toward Medium members’ referral earnings.
IMPORTING SUBSCRIBERS
Medium writers now have the ability to import up to 5,000 email addresses. This gives writers the ability to operate their e-newsletter entirely within the platform, rather than having to use a third-party provider for email marketing.
KNOWABLE AND PROJECTOR ADDED
To add to its features set, Medium acquired two companies, Knowable and Projector. Knowable brings audio capabilities to the platform so writers can now start producing a podcast or create audio courses for their followers and subscribers. Meanwhile, Projector gives users the ability to create graphics for presentations, social media stories and newsletters.
