What’s New in LinkedIn 2022

INTRODUCTION

LinkedIn remains a useful tool for individual branding, and over the past few years, it has gained even more strength as a recruitment tool as we see a record low in the unemployment rate

Based on the new features being rolled out this year, LinkedIn appears to want to bolster page functionalities. Here’s a look at new features in LinkedIn in 2022.

LEAD GEN FORM FOR YOUR PAGE

Now you can collect information from members of your LinkedIn Page or Showcase Page. Click on the “Edit page” button, click on “Lead gen form” and then enable it.  (Here’s info on how to set up a LinkedIn Showcase Page.)

Your choices of CTA are Contact Sales, Request free demo, Start free trial and Get started. Of note, you will need to add a link to a privacy policy URL. The rest of the fields will auto-populate with the member’s info when they open the form. 

You may view your leads for the past 90 days under Analytics > Leads. 

NEWSLETTER FOR YOUR PAGE

Another new feature of LinkedIn Pages and Showcase Pages is the addition of a newsletter. On your page, click on “Write article,” and if your page has at least 150 followers, you should be given the opportunity to create a newsletter instead.

You will then need to add a title, description, publishing cadence and logo for your newsletter. At this point, you will write your first newsletter article, and you may publish one article every 24 hours. 

Your page followers will receive an invitation to subscribe to your newsletter after you publish your first article. Subscribers will then receive a notification and an email following every article you publish.

PROFILE VIDEO

Instead of a still photo for your profile pic, how about a video instead? In the LinkedIn app, go to your profile, click on the “+” button next to your profile photo and choose “Add cover story.” You can now record a selfie video of up to 30 seconds. 

A good use of this video would be to introduce your skills/expertise and the value you provide. Viewers will be able to follow you and send you a message from your video. In addition, your profile photo will have a blue ring around it to indicate that it’s a video, and that will help you stand out within the feed and in search results.
