Black Chamber Resiliency Showcase to be Held Virtually

MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Black Chamber of Commerce will host a Black Business Resiliency Showcase on Thursday, May 6 from 4-6 p.m. This annual fundraising event previously known as the Black Business Awards Recognition & Exhibit will be held virtually this year.

“Although this year’s event looks quite different, the pandemic won’t stop us from recognizing Black-owned businesses,” Camille Carter, President and CEO of the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce, said. “We’ve seen the hard work and resilience of our local businesses this past year, and we’re looking forward to celebrating their accomplishments.”

This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Resilience of Black-Owned Businesses.” The keynote speaker will be Loida Nicolas Lewis, the wife of Reginald Lewis, the first African American entrepreneur to build a billion-dollar business. JasonFields, President and CEO of MadREP, will also be speaking.

Attendees will be able to network and chat with others by virtually moving around the room using an online platform that closely mimics an in-person event.

Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased via the Chamber’s website madisonblackchamber.com. The ticket price includes a copy of Lewis and Blaire S. Walker’s book “Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun?: How Reginald Lewis Created a Billion-Dollar Business Empire.”
