At the Wisconsin Lodging Conference & Trade Show this week, I was named the Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association Associate of the Year. According to its description, “This award honors a high degree of industry dedication and knowledge.”
As I said in my acceptance speech, I am so thankful for this unexpected, but most appreciated, award. The reason why I say that is that much of the work I do in PR and marketing is behind the scenes.
In other words, it’s not widely known how I’ve helped WHLA represent the interests of Wisconsin lodging properties. For example, I’ve provided strategic counsel on several initiatives/responses, coordinated media interviews/op-eds and developed a crisis communications/social media toolkit for all members.
I also want to say how much I enjoy working with folks in hospitality. Like any industry, it can have challenging moments, but hospitality is otherwise a rewarding field, and there’s nothing like seeing a happy guest.
