Westbound E. Washington Avenue to be One Lane Starting April 13

(MADISON, Wis.)—As the construction team continues work on the Blair Street project, the westbound side of E. Washington Avenue will be reduced to one lane starting Thursday, April 13, after morning commute. The closure will begin at Blount Street and continue toward the Capitol. In addition, the westbound left turn lane into southbound Blair Street and southbound north Blair Street will be reduced to a single lane.

The closure, which is expected to last 6-8 weeks, will be necessary for crews to work on reconstruction of the median lanes in both direction, pavement replacement and make water and sanitary updates.

“This phase of the project requires a temporary adjustment to traffic,” City of Madison City Engineer Jim Wolfe said. “We appreciate everyone using caution when navigating the area.”

The entire project is slated to be completed by the fall of 2023.
