Black Restaurant Week to Showcase Authenticity

(MADISON, Wis.)—Local residents will get to experience authentic recipes from dozens of restaurants, food carts, caterers and specialty shops during the third-annual Black Restaurant Week taking place Aug. 12-19.

“Black Restaurant Week is yet another example of how the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce supports Black businesses,” Madison Black Chamber President Camille Carter said. “We look forward to showcasing the plethora of authentic recipes created by Black entrepreneurs for the community.”

New this year is the ability for area employees with FUDUworks to order delivery to work from participating purveyors. FUDU is a mobile app that brings mobile ordering to Madison’s local food carts and restaurants.

The week, which has participation from businesses across Madison, from Sun Prairie to the west side of Madison, is dedicated to the memory of Bonefish Grill Owner Rod Ladson, who died in July.

Foods range from fried chicken and fried fish to barbeque ribs, pizza and chocolates. Specials include a seafood gumbo from That BBQ Joint and jerk chicken and fufu from Kingdom Restaurant.

A full list of participants can be found at http://www.madisonblackchamber.com/black-restaurant-week/.
